Viacom has partnered with AT&T U-verse to provide subscribers with online access to the full library of programming from Viacom’s flagship channels, such as Comedy Central, BET, and Nickelodeon. That means subscribers can log in with their U-verse accounts and start streaming their favourite episodes online to their computers and laptops.
While the service has yet to be available on mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, AT&T and Viacom are working to make that a reality in the near future.
This TV Everywhere service should be included at no additional fee for qualifying TV packages. The idea of including TV Everywhere is to increase the value and convenience of pay TV subscriptions, which should hopefully give subscribers more incentive to renew their contracts.
“We’re excited to give customers online access to Viacom’s compelling content,” said Jeff Weber, president of AT&T’s content and advertising sales, in a statement. “This is just one more way we’re offering U-verse TV customers the best entertainment experience, wherever they are.”
“AT&T U-verse continues to bring great entertainment to its customers in every corner of their lives, and Viacom networks are a powerful part of that experience that viewers can count on to enjoy on every screen,” added Denise Denson, Executive VP of Viacom’s content distribution and marketing.
It’s a nice step in the right direction, given that U-verse subscribers are among one of the most satisfied pay TV customers in the nation.
