Time Warner Cable has just opened a new data center in downtown Manhattan, which will be dedicated to its Business Class Services division. The new facility is 17,000 square feet, which will offer dedicated Internet and Ethernet service to Time Warner Business customers and even allows for subscribers to cross-connect with varying providers.
“Information technology is the lifeblood of any business and protecting these assets in a secure data center is a high priority in today’s business world,” stated Time Warner Cable’s President for the Business Class Division East, Ken Fitzpatrick. “We are pleased to offer the business community this data facility to serve all their colocation needs. Our data facility gives IT managers the peace of mind that their assets are safe, accessible and available to ensure their businesses operate optimally.”
The new data center will focus on accommodating the needs of business clients of all sizes, government and non-profit organizations, and educational institutions. This is the 9th data center in the nation for Time Warner Cable, which the company anticipates will be essential when it comes to handling new business subscribers and offering more specialized business services.
New York State Senator Brad Hoylman was effusive in his praise, hailing the opening of Time Warner Cable’s latest data center: “As the state senator representing the heart of New York City’s rapidly-expanding tech sector, I’m proud to welcome this Time Warner Cable Business Class data center to my district. Access to secure data centers is increasingly important for large and small businesses, and I think Time Warner Cable’s center will help serve as a catalyst for continued growth in the IT industry, which is key to our city’s economic future.”
Business clients can expect reliability and flexibility with the new facility, since companies can take up as much (or as little) space as they need. The data center comes with dual generators for reliable back-up power, reducing the impact of electrical blackouts. In addition, there is 24-hour security and monitoring, onsite customer service support, as well as energy efficient technology and equipment.
